OPCC Presents Control Room

Ever wondered what if your news is being controlled?

Find out by watching the highly-praised documentary “Control Room”

The Overseas Press Club of Cambodia presents:
“Control Room”, a film by Jehane Noujaim

The engaging documentary highlights the Al Jazeera news network
and its relations with the US Central Command (CENTCOM), as well
as the other news organizations that covered the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Control Room shows that even though impartiality is the mainstay of good journalism,

sometimes lines are drawn in the sand.

Movie Screening of The Fixer

Ever wondered what it takes to get the story?

Find out by watching the highly-praised documentary “The Fixer.”

The Overseas Press Club of Cambodia presents:
“The Fixer: The Taking of Ajmal Naqshbandi.”

Fixer (journalism): A person hired by foreign journalists to
facilitate the gathering of news stories.

Twenty-four-year-old Ajmal Naqshbandi was one of Afghanistan's
best fixers. In 2007, the Taliban kidnapped Italian journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo and Ajmal.

Six months later, one will be released, the other murdered.

This is the first showing in a scheduled film series by the OPCC. After the film, we'll have an informal discussion with a foreign correspondent who has worked in Afghanistan and with two Cambodian journalists who have been there, fixed that.
